Did you ever wanted to know how to act around people so that you will be more likeable? Do you have the wish to speak effortlessly to other persons? Have you ever wondered how salespeople convince you to buy something you actually don’t need?
How to win friends and influence people was originally a textbook for effective speaking and human relations, it is still used as a textbook but now it is also an all-time international bestseller filled with advice and techniques for managing your relationships.

The common reaction when I mentioned to anyone I was reading this book was ‘Uhuh, so you think that it’s really going to work?’ Well people, I actually think it does work when you do it right, but more about that later.

How to win friends and influence people was first published in 1937, but has been revised ever since so that the modern reader can compare his situation. It is written in speaking style, so it’s just like Carnegie is actually telling you his whole book.
This self-help book gives you fundamental techniques in handling people, six ways to make people like you, how to win people to your way of thinking and how to be a leader.
The book is put together in a certain order. First you get a troubled situation, often this is a personal event of Dale Carnegie’s life, where you learn what you can do to solve it. Then there are several situations where the advice was used to resolve the problem. The situations differ a great deal from each other; it can be about how a president of the United Nations has dealt with a certain issue, businessmen trying to win over clients, people applying for a job or how a tenant has bargained with his landlord over the rent. At last the advice is put into a short and easily remembered sentence. In the end you will have 30 techniques on how to win friends and influence people.

Now why I think that when you apply these techniques your social life will be improved. The most ‘rules’ are based on respect for another person. Don’t be mean, don’t be fake and listen when someone is speaking to you. It’s that simple, right.

How to win friends an influence people is probably the most helpful (and actually the only self-help) book I’ve read. It’s very interesting, written in plain language and easy to follow.
